A Local Investment Fund Offering Non-Refundable Income Tax Benefits

  • Receive a 35% non-refundable income tax credit on your investment against provincial tax payable (If you do not have the cash available, you can borrow the money from a financial institution, and the interest is tax deductible*!).
  • Money invested through a self-directed RRSP can generate deferrals in the 2009 tax year.  Income tax credits can be applied back three years, or forward seven years.
  • An existing RRSP can be transferred to BCAVC, and you can be eligible for a 35% non-refundable income tax credit against provincial tax payable.

BCA Group starts venture capital fund

SYDNEY — The BCA Group has started a new venture capital fund that offers a significant tax credit for investors and is already looking into a biomass furnace for farm use, among other possible investments.

BCA Venture Capital Ltd. president Greg MacLeod said the new investment vehicle was started as a way to attract new people for its board of directors and to attract new investors who might not be interested in the group's other investment projects.

"People have different interests and this is kind of a new opportunity," he said. "Say people who weren't interested in our old projects might be interested in this."

BCA group celebrating 20 years of economic development today

SYDNEY — A key player in economic development in Cape Breton will celebrate its 20th anniversary today.

The BCA group, formed in 1989, will be honoured this evening at a banquet at Maple Leaf Restaurant in Sydney, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

BCA, like New Dawn, grew out of the Tompkins Institute at the former University College of Cape Breton.

Included in the BCA group is BCA Investment Co-operative and Cape Breton Innovation Research Centre, both of which grew out of BCA Holdings which was incorporated in 1989.
